Farneto del Principe company stands on a hill at the foot of Altomonte, a splendid town in the province of Cosenza, one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy, with a millenary wine culture and witnessed since the Roman era by the great Pliny the Elder in his “Naturalis Historia” in which he cited the “Balbini” wines from the ancient name of the Balbia village which at the time stood in the valley right near our vineyards.
Our territory is perpetually kissed by the sun and caressed by the gentle breeze of the Ponentino which, from the Tyrrhenian Sea goes towards the Ionian Sea, intoxicating the air with the intense scents of the sweet and wild land of Calabria. The fog here is unknown. These climatic conditions combined with culture, traditions and passion for the world of wine and vine cultivation, give life to our company Farneto del Principe.
Our company boasts about 100 hectares of vineyards of which 80% of the farm cultivar is indigenous, preferring the historical vines present on our territories for millennia, 5 hectares of olive groves and about 20 hectares of woods and arable land.
The business center is spread over two parts, one is used as a winery for the vinification, maturation and aging of wine, the other is designed for the storage of finished products.
Farneto del Principe company is an organic family business. Our goal has always been to best tell the expression, the aromas and the typicality of our territory, through our wine. The main road of the company is that of quality first of all, in full respect of the environment.
